Men's Volleyball Gets the Split at (RV) Missouri Baptist
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Brescia University men’s volleyball team headed to (RV) Missouri Baptist for a one-day tournament against the nationally ranked Spartans and the Wildcats of Culver-Stockton College. The Bearcats split the day with a win and a loss to extend their overall record to 3-12 on the year.

ST. The Bearcats split the day with a win and a loss to extend their overall record to 3-12 on the year.
Game One: (RV) Missouri Baptist 3, Bearcats 1
The Bearcats would shock the gym by taking set one against the Spartans, 25-22. BU couldn't keep the momentum going as they fell in the next three sets as they dropped the match, 3-1. Meric Akovali led the offense with 14 kills on 46 total attempts. Mustafa Yildiz followed behind with 10 kills on 16 total attempts. Finn Berger also assisted his fellow Bearcats 30 times.
Game Two: Bearcats 3, Culver-Stockton 1
In game two of the day, the Bearcats reset themselves as they take the first and second set against the Wildcats. Culver-Stockton (CSC) came back in set three to cut the set deficit in half against BU. The match all came down to set four for the Bearcats as CSC made things interesting by taking a 12-5 lead out of the gate. An eight-point surge for BU was the difference in the match as a kill and an attack error tied the score at 15. Neither team backed down until the 30-point mark where the Wildcats ran out of steam, giving BU the win 32-30.
Three Bearcats were in double digit kills in the win as the entire offense combined for 55 kills for 72 points. Akovali and Stephen Schmidt led the team with a combined 23 digs, while Berger assisted 44 times.
Next up, the Bearcats head to Georgetown, KY to take on the #9 ranked Tigers of Georgetown College. Tip-off is this Thursday, Mar. 7 at 6pm CT.
