OWENSBORO, KY – The Brescia University women's soccer team struggles to be in contention with the Redstorm of Rio Grande as they drop the contest, 7-1. The Lady Bearcats fall to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in RSC play.
After their record performance this past Thursday, the ladies struggled to push the ball through the Redstorm defense. Rio would score their first goal in the 9th minute of play to take the early advantage. Two shots by Maci Uffelman would get two shots that missed wide for the Bearcats but would result in a corner kick. The corner amassed to nothing as the Redstorm retained possession to score their second goal in the 25th minute. Rio would then score their third and fourth goal of the half in the 34th and 35th minute. The Redstorm would score their fifth goal in the 38th minute of play to take the five-goal advantage.
At the start of the second half, the Bearcats would get a foul in the box for the penalty kick opportunity. Duda Feres would score her second PK of the year to get the Bearcats on the board and avoid a shutout. Ultimately, the Bearcats were unable to capitalize in the second half as they fall 7-1.
Duda Feres scored the only goal for the Bearcats in full time as Kya Seibert gets her first loss between the posts to extend her record to 1-1.
The Bearcats take the pitch again on next Thursday, Oct. 12 against Midway with a 6:30pm kickoff time.
