Women's Basketball Moves to 1-0 in Conference Play
TERRE HAUTE, In. – The Brescia University women’s basketball team earned their first win in conference play over St. Mary of the Woods, 60-48, on the road. The Bearcats move to 8-3 overall and 1-0 in RSC play.

Continuing their hot streak, the Bearcats picked up a 12-point win to open the conference campaign against the Pomeroys. BU outscored SMWC in the opening frame 23-11 on a balanced effort from the starting five. BU tacked on 17 more points to take the 20-point lead going into the break. The Bearcats shot a little over 50% in the first half all while keeping the Pomeroys to just seven made shots.
SWMC seemed to have new life following the break as they pressured the Bearcats into seven turnovers in the third quarter. BU struggled in the second half remaining scoreless for nearly six minutes as the Pomeroys cut the lead to nine. The Bearcats kept SWMC at arm's length as they won the battle of the boards to limit the Pomeroys possessions. Hailee Johnson made five of her six free throws to seal the win for BU.
Brooklyn Stewart led the Bearcats with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, going 6-8 from the charity stripe. Jenna Krampe followed behind with 11 points and 13 rebounds while Cassidy Morris tallied 17 boards with six points. The BU bench played a pivotal role in the win with 22 points led by Hailee Johnson. Graci Risley and Ja'Mesha Brown each put six points in the effort.
The Lady Cats will travel to Arkansas to take on Crowley's Ridge in one of two of their non-conference matchups. Tip-off is set for Friday, Dec. 19 at 2pm.
