Game one: Bearcats 12, WVU Tech 0
After a three up, three down inning for the defense, the Bearcat lineup started with a Lindsey Peyton walk. A bunt by Elizabeht Richey would push Peyton over to third base as Richey takes second base on the throw. Zoe Smithson reached base on a fielding error as two runs scored to give the Bearcats the lead. Taylor Farrer capped off the scoring streak with a double to left center. Two more runs would cross the plate in the bottom of the second as the Golden Bears turn to their third arm in the circle. The Bearcat bats woke up and chose violence in the third inning as they put up seven runs to give them the 12-run advantage. Raini Gerometta gave up just two hits in the circle for her first win and complete game of the season. The Bearcat hitters made a few trips through the lineup as almost every player touched the bases.
Game two: WVU Tech 7, Bearcats 3
The Bearcats continued the momentum into game two as they scored three runs in the first four innings. The offense died down after the fourth inning as the Golden Bears began to wake up a little bit. WVU Tech hit back-to-back singles for their first runners on since the second inning. An error in right field cleared the bases as the Golden Bear hitter touched all four bases on the mistake to knot the score at three apiece. The Golden Bears put up another three-spot in the sixth inning to double their lead over the Bearcats. One last run in the top of the seventh would seal the win for WVU Tech as the Bearcats fell in game two, 7-3. Hannah Hailey gets her fourth loss in the circle to extend her record to 0-4.
Next up, the Lady Bearcats continue their conference play tomorrow against Rio Grande at home. The games will be played at Jack C. Fisher Park with a 1pm CT start time for the doubleheader.
