Alderton Runs to Victory in Bearcat Invitational; Kimaiyo Finishes 5th
OWENSBORO, KY – The Brescia University men’s and women’s cross-country teams competed in the Bearcat Invitational this past weekend in a four team meet. The women finished third as a team whereas the men recorded no team score.
OWENSBORO, KY – The Brescia University men's and women's cross-country teams competed in the Bearcat Invitational this past weekend in a four team meet. The women finished third as a team whereas the men recorded no team score.
Breanna Alderton and Carmela Shorkey continue to be the front runners for the women's team. Alderton finished 1st in the women's 5k with a time of 18:14.3 followed closely by Shorkey who finished 4th with a time of 20:26.4. Abigail Burgett, Maliyah Wilson-Taylor, Ashunte Watts, and Mackenzie Severs all finished sub 25 in the meet as well.
On the men's side, newcomer Brian Kimaiyo, finished 5th in his first race in the men's 8k with a final time of 29:13.6. Gerrick Sheffer finished 10th with a time of 30:06 while Brody Kurz cruised into a close 13th place with a time of 30:25.5. Nicholas Greer was the last Bearcat to finish in 18th place with a time of 31:18.2.
Both the men's and women's team will head to Evansville, IN on October 13th for the Angel Mounds Invitational.
