Brescia Places 7th at Midwest XC Challenge
The Brescia University women's cross country team raced at the Midwest XC Challenge, hosted by Taylor University, on October 24th, placing seventh.
"The Bearcats had a strong race today. It was perfect race weather and we were on a fast course, so I'm pleased with the results. Sophia had a big season PR, and the rest of the ladies competed well as well. I'm looking forward to seeing how we stack up at conference," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel.
Sophia Warthen (FR, Elizabethtown, Ky.) led the way for the Bearcats, placing 17th with a 5k time of 21:26 -- a 37 second season PR. Abagale Hueslman (SO, Fort Branch, Ind.) finished shortly after, placing 25th and running a 22:12.
Sheyenna Stytz (FR, Ledbetter, Ky.), Raegan Halley (SO, McLeansboro, Ill.), and McKenzie Severs (SO, Hawesville, Ky.) rounded out the top five, running 24:05, 24:23, and 24:38, respectively.
Marianne Glaziner (SO, Terre Haute, Ind.) and Morgan Curry (FR, Hawesville, Ky.) also competed at the meet, placing 53rd and 59th.
The Bearcats will be back in action on November 7th, competing at the River States Conference Championship.
