Women's XC Adds Four for 2020 Season
The Brescia women's cross country/track & field programs added four student-athletes for the 2020-2021 season, continuing to build on last year's successful recruiting class.
"I am excited to see what the women's team can accomplish this season. We are a young team, but I believe we can surprise some teams in the River States Conference (RSC)," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel.
The incoming class is led by Sophia Warthen (Elizabethtown HS, Elizabethtown, Ky.) and Lexi Nicholas (Hawesville, Ky.), who is transferring to Brescia from NCAA D1 Austin Peay St. University. Prior to running at Austin Peay, Nicholas competed locally at Hancock County from 2012-2018.
Morgan Curry (Hancock County HS, Lewisport, Ky.) and Sheyenna Stytz (Livingston Central HS, Ledbetter, Ky.) will add competition to the team and continue to improve upon their times. Stytz will also add to the jumps squad during the track & field season.
PR's:
Lexi Nicholas: 20:49 (5k), 2:35 (800m)
Sophia Warthen: 20:49 (5k), 2:47 (800m)
Morgan Curry: 24:33 (5k), 6:22 (1600m)
Sheyenna Stytz: 24:36 (5k), 29-3.5 (triple jump)
"We will have more competition for our top five spots this season. I think the incoming freshmen will compete well with our returning student-athletes, including Mckenzie Severs, Abagale Huelsman, Kaitlyn Alvey, Marianne Glaziner, and Raegan Halley," said Stoffel.
