Lady Bearcats Finish Sixth at Drakes Creek Scramble
The starters pistol kicked off the Brescia women's cross country team's season on September 7 at the Drakes Creek Scramble in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
After previously competing in a 4k non-scored dual meet against Kentucky Wesleyan College, the Lady Bearcats competed in its first 5k of the season.
Team-captain Madeline Jones (JR, Mt. Carmel, Ill.) led the way for Brescia, finishing in 30th place and running the 5k in 22:11.
Mckenzie Severs (FR, Hawesville, Ky.) crossed the finish line next for the Bearcats, finishing 36th and running a 22:57 -- her fastest time in two years.
Teammates Abagale Huelsman (FR, Fort Branch, Ind.), Kaitlyn Alvey (FR, Owensboro, Ky.), and Marianne Glaziner (FR, Terre Haute, Ind.) each finished within one minute of Severs, running 23:27, 23:37, and 23:49, respectively.
Raegan Halley (FR, McLeansboro, Ill.), Kaylee Simpson (FR, Dawson Springs, Ky.), and Breanna Chester (SO, Henderson, Ky.) each competed well in the race, finishing in 24:50, 28:44, and 29:44, respectively.
The women's cross country team will be back in action on September 20 at 2:30 p.m., when the team races in the National Catholic Invitational at the University of Notre Dame.
