Lady Bearcats Host RSC Cross Country Championships
On November 3rd the Lady Bearcats hosted the River States Conference Championships meet held at their home course at Yellow Creek Park. A few days of rain early in the week raised some concerns, but that eroded away quickly during the beginning stages of the course set-up. Other than a few spots of standing water and some areas of mud, the course was relatively dry, which made for some quick times.
Madeline Jones led the bearcats in their final race this season with a finishing time of 21:35, her best of the year, and finished 39th. She was followed by Autumn Tonkins, posting a personal record of 23:18 (71st), Mallory Toler (26:16, 92nd), Kierra Neighbors (27:14, 99th) and Mariah Soto (30:33, 101st).
The Lady Bearcats season ended today, however with a young team, three freshman, one sophomore and one junior, the Lady Bearcats are already looking forward to many improvements headed into next year.
"I am very happy with the results our ladies had today. Madeline ran a season best and Autumn continues to bring her PR down. Mallory, Kierra, and Mariah stepped up to help the team out and their efforts are greatly appreciated. We will take a short two week break and then begin training for track season," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel.
