OWENSBORO, KY. – The Brescia University women's volleyball team falls to 1-9 on the season and 0-3 in RSC play after a tough loss to IUPUC three sets to none.
The Lady Bearcats fought hard against the newcomer in IUPUC as they drop the match in three sets. BU would take an early 3-1 lead in set one as an attack error by the Crimson Pride would give the Bearcats the advantage. IUPUC would quickly knot the score and jump out to a lead as the Pride scores five unanswered points. The Bearcats seemed to lose the momentum they had in the beginning as IUPUC would take set one, 25-17.
In set two, it would seem as the Bearcat offense had dimmed down as the Crimson Pride would surge to 11-5 lead. A IUPUC service error would give the Bearcats the window they needed to make a comeback. Attack errors would plague the Pride offense as BU would force them into long rallies for a 7-0 run. However, the Bearcats could not complete the comeback as IUPUC would take a two-set lead with a set two score of 25-22.
With a close set two finish, the Bearcats looked to extend the match by winning set three. Both offenses would remain evenly paced until IUPUC started to pull away. As the Crimson Pride inch closer to victory, BU would start to pick the offense back up as back-to-back kills by Jasmin Jones would make the score 23-18. Unfortunately, the Bearcats struggled defensively as the Crimson Pride take set three and the match 3-0.
Jasmin Jones led BU with 10 kills while Cheaney Archer notched 16 assists. Katie Fitzgerald accumulated 13 digs in the loss.
The Lady Bearcats take the floor again at home against IU-Southeast with a 7pm CT start.
