Lady Bearcats Win On The Road

Owensboro, Ky---The Lady Bearcats Volleyball team traveled to Ohio Christian University and Ohio Valley University, where they secured two conference wins.

On Friday night, the Lady Bearcats defeated the Ohio Christian Trailblazers. After dropping the first two sets 23-25 and 20-25, Brescia battled back taking the next three sets 25-20, 25-17, 15-5. Braelyn Rhodes led the Bearcats with 23 kills and 12 digs for the match. Hannah Yonts and Hannah Beitler were also contributing factors with 13 kills each, followed by Joie Porter with 11 kills and 19 digs. Brittney Just broke her season record in assist with 51 and in digs with 18. The Lady Bearcats back row was solid with 83 total digs as a team with Kelaiah King finishing the game with a game high 12 digs.

On Saturday afternoon, the Lady Bearcats took on the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots where they were victorious in 3 sets, winning 25-14, 25-10, 25-22. "This was a team win, with everyone contributing and getting playing time" said head coach Brianna Rhodes. Hannah Beitler and Braelyn Rhodes led the team in kills with 9 apiece, followed by Joie Porter and Hannah Yonts (6), and Emily Gordon and Jasmin Jones (1). The Lady Bearcats were a force to be reckoned with at the net with 13 team blocks, 5 coming from Emily Gordon, 2 from Braelyn, Brittney, and Joie. Jasmin Jones and Hannah Yonts both contributed with 1 block. Shealyn Riggs led the team in digs with 16. The Lady Bearcats trailed late in the third set, but were able to come back due to the serving of Nevaeh Dearmond, where she was able to ace the Fight Scots a total of 3 times.
