Lady Bearcats Compete at Margaret Simmons invitational

The Brescia women's track & field team competed at the Margaret Simmons Invitational, hosted by Murray State University, on March 27th.

"I was happy to see how the women competed at a very competitve meet. I think we had some good results that will help progress us throughout the season," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel.

Sprints & Hurdles:

In the 100m dash, Abigail Burgett (FR/Dawson Springs, KY) and Ashaunte Watts (FR/Radcliff, KY) led the Bearcats, finishing back to back at 13.53 and 13.73 seconds, respectively. Sheyenna Stytz (FR/Ledbetter, KY), Mercedes Santos Tellez (SO/Louisville, KY), Mallory Toler (JR/Rockport, IN), and Dashia Shanklin (JR/Bowling Green, KY) also competed in the event.

In the 200m, Watts placed 47th with a time of 28.46 seconds. Burgett, Madelyn Lyon (SO/Owensboro, KY), and Elisabeth Joines (FR/Beech Creek, KY) also competed in the event.

Joines finished 24th in the 100m hurdles, running a time of 18.46 seconds.

The women's 4x100m relay team of Toler, Watts, Alayna Petri (FR/Owensboro, KY), and Burgett placed 11th with a time of 53.05 seconds.

Distance:

In the 800m run, Marianne Glaziner (SO/Terre Haute, IN) finished the two-lap race in 2:52.62.

Mckenzie Severs (SO/Hawesville, KY) and Raegan Halley (SO/McLeansboro, IL) competed in the 1500m, placing 56th and 57th.

In the 5,000m run, Abagale Huelsman (SO/Fort Branch, IN) ran a new PR of 20:31.10, placing 14th.

Jumps:

In high jump, Madelyn Lyon cleared 1.40m, placing 19th.

In long jump, Sheyenna Stytz, Abigail Burgett, Alayna Petri, and Mallory Toler placed 26th-29th, respectively.

Stytz also competed in triple jump, jumping 8.68m and placing 20th.

Throws:

In shot put, Mikayla Chinn (SR/Newburgh, IN) threw 9.75m, placing 21st. Brittany Lear (SR/Madisonville, KY) also competed in shot out, throwing 7.00m.

Chinn also competed in discus, throwing 30.28m and placing 19th.

The Bearcats will be back in action on April 2nd at the KWC Twilight.
