Warren Qualifies for National Championships
Senior, Olivia Warren has qualified for the outdoor National Championships after her half marathon performance this weekend. On Saturday, she competed in the No Luck Half Marathon in Plainfield, IN. There she covered the 13.1 mile course in 1:30:42, winning the event. The time is nearly one and a half minutes faster than the NAIA qualifying mark. Warren, is the first female individual track and field qualifier in Brescia history. Currently, she is ranked 37th in the NAIA in the event. She is now guaranteed a spot in the full marathon at the National Championships on May 23rd that will take place in Gulf Shores, AL.
"This is a great honor for a person who truly deserves it.",said head coach Alan Schulze. "Olivia has put in a ton of hard work, not just getting ready for this race, but throughout her career. She is a special type of athlete that doesn't come around often. This experience will be a great culmination of her career and is much deserved."
Despite making her first track nationals qualifying honors, Olivia is no stranger to success. Over her collegiate career she is a 3-time National Championships qualifier in cross country and 3-time KIAC champion in the 10,000m, along with holding many school records.
