Women's Track & Field Compete at DePauw
The Lady Bearcats competed in their second indoor track meet of the season, at DePauw University. The ladies finished 7th out of 8 teams and scored ten points. Highlights of the day included Kassi Gilbert breaking her school record in the triple jump and Mimi Chinn finishing third in shot put, with a throw of 10.32 meters.
Kassi Gilbert participated in three events, on Friday night. The first being the 60m dash where she placed 13th and crossed the line in 9.27 seconds. Kassi finished 9th in long jump, with a distance of 4.23m and reset her school record in the triple jump to 8.72m.
Madeline Jones ran both the 1 mile and 3000m run. In the 1 mile Madeline just missed breaking six minutes with a time of 6:01.40, finishing in 9th place; the third highest placing freshman in that race. Madeline finished her 3000m run in 11th place and just breaking twelve minutes, with a time of 11:59.34.
Ashlie Carpenter ran both the 1 mile and 800m. In the mile run, Ashlie dropped 13 seconds from the week before finishing in 6:37.46, placing her 13th overall. In the 800m run Ashlie finished 18th and had a time of 3:05.08.
Makenzie Jackson ran both the 1 mile and the 800m as well. In the 1 mile run she crossed in 6:59.34 and placed 15th. Jackson went 3:07.93 in the 800m and finished 20th.
Jordan Blemker improved on her third throw of the night, in shot put, hitting a distance of 8.00 meters, she finished 10th overall.
Brittany Lear improved her shot put PR to 5.67m finishing 15th.
"Overall today was a good meet. We have been dealing with a couple injuries on both sides, but the overall performance of the team is right where we need to be. I am excited to see where we stack up with the conference in the RSC Indoor Championship next weekend," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel.
The Lady Bearcats are back in action February 9th, as they compete in the first ever RSC Indoor Championship. The meet will be held at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio. The first events will begin at 2:00pm CST. Click here for time schedule and order of events.
