Women's Tennis Claims Second Straight Win

On a cold and rainy day, the Bearcats were up well before dawn to to meet conference rival Carlow University in Richmond, KY on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.

Brescia quickly fell behind 4-0 at #1 doubles and 3-0 at #2 doubles. The # 2 team of Taylor Wathen (SO/Owensboro,KY) and Natalie Wiriyachon finally found their range and reeled off 8 straight games.

It took Dakota Durrett (SR/Paducah,KY) and Tarsila Duck (SR/Mogi das Cruzes, SP Brazil) a bit longer. Down 4-6, the Bearcat dou took 3 straight games to ahead 7-6 and had match point but the team from Carlow came back to go up 8-7. Brescia rallied again to force a tiebreak at 8-8. It was all Brescia after that, taking 7 straight points to post a 9-8 victory.

With the team score all square at 2-2, Durrett rolled to victory at #1 singles 6-1,6-1. Taylor Wathen took a tough 6-3,6-2 win at # 4 singles and Wiriyachon clinched the win for the Bearcats with tense 6-1,7-6(1) victory.

Tarsile Duck added a 6-1,6-1 win at # 3 singles.
