Lady Bearcats lead Women's conference tournament

The Brescia Women's Golf team began this morning with the hopes of repeating as conference champions at Cherryblossom Country Club in Georgetown, KY. The Lady Bearcats set the tone for that to happen after the first day of competition.

Courtney Lucas shot a first round 77 to lead all golfers by 6 shots. Also helping Brescia take the first day lead was Nicole Burks who is currently in 7th place with a score of 83, Julie Whitfill who is in 8th, with a score of 84, Taylor Holley is tied for 9th with a score of 85 and Brookelyn Hattabough is tied for 13th with a score of 90. "We started off a little shaky, the girls were nervous. Then Courtney Lucas birdy 7, 8, and 9 to shoot even par on the front side. The other girls played solid on the back side. If we do this again tomorrow I feel like we have a shot at going to Nationals.: (Coach Ballou)

With all five golfers scoring well today this gives the Lady Bearcats a great shoot at repeating as KIAC conference champions. The Women will tee off tomorrow in hopes of fulfilling that goal. The Lady Bearcats will have to hold off the Eagles of Midway who are currently in 2nd place and only 6 shots behind.
