Softball Sweeps IU Columbus at Home
HENDERSON, Ky. – The Brescia University softball team won the series at home against IU Columbus following the close matchup. The Bearcats improved their record to 17-23 overall and 12-16 in RSC play.

The opening game saw just six hits overall and just one run as BU came out victorious. Emmie Bullington and Isabelle Hayes tallied the two hits for Brescia as Hayes hit the game winning home run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Bullington went the distance in the circle allowing just four hits, no runs, and two strikeouts.
Game 2: Bearcats 10 IU Columbus 9
Extra frames were needed in this close matchup as both offenses erupted for a total of 27 hits.
Back-and-Forth Start
The Bearcats jumped on the board first in the bottom of the first inning as the middle of the lineup pushed three runs across. The Crimson Pride answered shortly after with four runs on errors to take the lead. BU regained the lead, taking advantage of IUC errors to add two more runs. The Crimson Pride added three more in the third and held the lead until the fifth.
The Bearcats strung hits together to put runners on the base paths. A throw down to second on the stolen base by Hayes allowed pinch runner Averi Garrett to score and tie the game. Tied up yet again in the bottom of the seventh, this game was headed to extras. Emma Kate Elrod singled to right center with the bases loaded to hit the game winner in the ninth.
UP NEXT
The Bearcats will travel to Grayson, KY on Friday for a doubleheader against Kentucky Christian and then to West Virginia Tech on Saturday.
