Courtney Peyton Walks Off Again as the Bearcats Split with the Mighty Oaks
OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Brescia University softball team split with Oakland City this past Tuesday evening as they dropped game one, 9-1, but bounced back to win game two in walk-off fashion, 2-1. The Bearcats extended their record to 8-23 on the year and 7-17 in RSC play.

OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Brescia University softball team split with Oakland City this past Tuesday evening as they dropped game one, 9-1, but bounced back to win game two in walk-off fashion, 2-1. The Bearcats extended their record to 8-23 on the year and 7-17 in RSC play.
Game one: Mighty Oaks 9 Bearcats 1
Oakland City would start the scoring off in the top of the fourth inning as they drove in four runs on four hits. The Bearcats got one back in the bottom of the frame on a Mikah Goeppner SAC fly to left field to score Courtney Peyton from third. The BU offense fizzled after one run as the Mighty Oaks' offense continued to stay hot. OCU took game one, 9-1, as they outhit the Bearcats 13-6.
Hannah Hailey would get the loss in the circle as she extended her record on the mound to 3-6. Lindsey Peyton led the offense going 2-for-3 as Goeppner grabbed the RBI on the sacrifice fly.
Game two: Bearcats 2 Mighty Oaks 1
Game two came down to the wire as the Bearcats needed the final frame to grab the win. Both teams remained scoreless until OCU tallied a run in the top of the fourth on a single to centerfield. BU's first run came in the bottom of the sixth as Kaylyn Sowders reached and advanced on a throwing error by the shortstop. A wild pitch moved Sowders over to third and into scoring position. Another wild pitch proved costly for the Mighty Oaks as Sowders ran in for the tying run. Maddie Norton kept OCU scoreless for the remainder of the game in the circle as the Bearcats had one final chance to win the game before extras. Lindsey Peyton got on base on another bad throw from the shortstop to signify the winning run. Berlyn Uken moved Peyton over to second on her single to left field. Courtney Peyton needed just one pitch to send a ball through the right side to score her twin counterpart from second and win the game.

Up next, the Bearcats travel to New Albany, IN for a conference series against IU Southeast this coming Friday, Apr. 19. First pitch will begin at 1pm CT with game two following after.
