Lady Bearcats Split with Oakland City on the Road
OAKLAND CITY, IN – The Brescia University softball team finished up their last road trip of the year at division rival, Oakland City. The Bearcats fell in game one as the Mighty Oaks 14 hit performance led to a 9-1 victory. BU bounced back in game two as they split with the Mighty Oaks, 10-5. Brescia extends their record to 9-25 overall and 6-20 in River States Conference play.

The Bearcats fell in game one as the Mighty Oaks 14 hit performance led to a 9-1 victory. BU bounced back in game two as they split with the Mighty Oaks, 10-5. Brescia extends their record to 9-25 overall and 6-20 in River States Conference play.
The Mighty Oaks would strike first early in game one as they take a 2-0 lead in the first two innings. The Bearcats would struggle to contain the OCU offense as a six run, third inning would deter a BU comeback. The Mighty Oaks would cap off their scoring with their final run in the fifth inning to walk-off the run rule. Brescia would score just one run off the bat of Courtney Peyton who sent a solo shot over the fence in the fourth inning. Raini Gerometta would get the loss in the circle for the Bearcats as she extended her record to 5-9.
The Bearcats turned a complete 180 in game two as they come out with a 10-5 win over OCU. Just like game one, the Mighty Oaks would score first with three runs in the first two innings. The Bearcats offense then exploded in the fourth and fifth innings, putting up 10 runs off of 15 hits. Back-to-back single and a hit by pitch would load the bases for the Bearcats as Kaylyn Sowders would score two on the single to left field. Mikah Goeppner would sacrifice herself on a bunt to mover runners over to second and third. Hailey Shadwick drive in an RBI on her ground out to second base to tie the game at three. Kaley Harris would drive in the fourth run of the fourth inning on a single through the right side of the field. The Bearcats would take advantage of a pitching change in the fifth inning as they rally for six more runs to give them the 10-3 lead. Savannah Jones would keep the Mighty Oaks at bay giving up just five runs on nine hits for her first complete game of the season. Jones extended her record to 1-3 on the year.
