Bearcats Downed BY Pomeroys
The Lady Bearcats softball team traveled to St. Mary's of the Woods for a double header on March 17th.
Starting pitcher for the first game was sophomore Keely Eans. In the first inning there were seven hits and two walk, three stolen bases, and one pass ball with St. Mary's scoring seven runs. In the second inning, Eans settled down and retired the side with one single and three fly outs. The third inning, Bearcats brought in freshman Raini Gerometta to pitch, and she held St. Mary's the rest of game with zero runs, one single, and two walks. For the Bearcats, freshmen Courtney Peyton and Lindsey Peyton went one for three respectfully. Bearcats lost 7-0.
In game two, Freshman Raini Gerometta remained on the mound as the Bearcats came alive with two runs scored in the first inning. Freshman Courtney Peyton led off with a double to left field, and a stolen base, followed by sophomore Bailey Caster getting hit by pitch, and a stolen base. Sophomore Brooklynn Ray and Junior Haley Frizzell went two for three with Ray hitting a double and Frizzell with two singles. Releigh Bobo also hit a double in the seventh inning. Overall, they produced six hits and had three strikeouts. Gerometta gave up five unearned runs, allowed 10 hits, with two strikeouts. Bearcats lost 2-5, but their bats and defense progressed from the first game.
The next games will be on Sunday against Frontier Junior College, and St. Mary's of the Woods at home again on Monday, March 22nd
