Three Run Career Bests at Midwest XC Challenge
The Brescia University men's cross country team raced at the Midwest XC Challenge, hosted by Taylor University, on October 24th, placing ninth.
Benjamin Brown (SO, Memphis, Mich.) finished the 8k course first for the Bearcats, running 28:59.5 and placing 20th. Brown narrowly missed his career PR (personal record) of 28:58.9.
Jeremy White-Zavala (FR, Beaver Dam, Ky.) and Wesley Abney (FR, Russellville, Ky.) finished second and third for the Bearcats, running 30:22 and 31:15, respectively. Both athletes ran new PR's, with White-Zavala breaking his former PR by 11 seconds and Abney by 55 seconds.
Caleb Sandefur (FR, Hartford, Ky.) and Draven Stewart (FR, Leitchfield, Ky.) rounded out the top five for the Bearcats, finishing the race in 33:06 and 34:28, respectively. Stewart also had a PR performance, smashing his former PR by 44 seconds.
"I was pleased to see Jeremy, Wes, and Draven have big PR's today. I think it is indicative of how hard they have worked all season, along with the rest of the team. Today was a good performance by the team," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel.
James Barrow (SO, Elizabethtown, Ky.) and Keitel McCoy (FR, Douglasville, Ga.) also completed the race, placing 78th and 80th, respectively.
The Bearcats will be back in action on November 7th, competing at the River States Conference Championship.
