Bearcats Open Season at IWU Twilight
The men's cross country team began its 2020 season at the IWU Twilight in Marion, Indiana, finishing in 17th place.
Newcomer Christian Leach (FR, Monroe, Ohio) led the way for the Bearcats, completing his first 8k in 28:09 and placing 91st.
Benjamin Brown (SO, Memphis, Mich.) was next, finishing the course in 30:11. Jeremy White-Zavala (FR, Beaver Dam, Ky.) followed Brown through the finish line, pacing his way to a 30:33 in his 8k debut.
Caleb Sandefur (FR, Hartford, Ky.) and Tyler Walz (SO, Hawesville, Ky.) rounded out the top five for Brescia, finishing the race in 33:35 and 33:54, respectively.
James Barrow (SO, Elizabethtown, Ky.), Wes Wheatley (SO, Hawesville, Ky.), Keitel McCoy (FR, Lithia Springs, Ga.), and Draven Stewart (FR, Leitchfield, Ky.) all competed at the Twilight as well.
"I am pleased with the performances we had from the men's team," said Assistant Coach Kyle Robinson. "This was the first race of the season and some of these guys haven't raced since October, due to track's cancellation last season. We will only get better from here."
The Bearcats will be back in action on September 19th when the team travels to Richmond, Indiana to compete in the IU East Run with the Wolves Invite.
