Brescia Places 12th at Fast Cats Classic
The Brescia men's cross country team placed 12 out of 15 teams in the Fast Cats Classic, Brescia's home meet, in a race that saw five Bearcats run a new career personal record (PR) in the 8k.
Benjamin Brown (FR, Memphis, Mich.) and Charlie McCallister (FR, Murray, Ky.) finished at the top for the Bearcats, running the 8k in 29:08 and 29:21, respectively. Brown's time marks a 22 second PR and McCallister's is a major PR of 1:05.
Tyler Walz (FR, Hawesville, Ky.) and Wes Wheatley (FR, Hawesville, Ky.) continued to improve in their freshman season, completing the race in 31:39 and 31:41, respectively. Walz and Wheatley both broke 32 minutes in the 8k for the first time in their career.
James Barrow (FR, Elizabethtown, Ky.) rounded out the top five for the Bearcats, running the 8k in 32:54 -- his second fastest time this season. Ethan Dooley (FR, Hopkinsville, Ky.) ran the 8k in 33:17, which is a 32 second PR.
The men and women ran well today. To have most of our team run PR's today on our home course was great, especially when a few of those PR's were significant drops in time. In two weeks, we head to the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I expect to see more PR's set," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel.
The men's cross country team will be back in action on October 26 at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan at 11:00 a.m.
