Robinson Secures Spot at NAIA Cross Country Nationals
On November 3rd the Bearcats hosted the River States Conference Championships held at their home course at Yellow Creek Park. A few days of rain early in the week raised some concerns, but that eroded away quickly during the beginning stages of the course set-up. Other than a few spots of standing water and some areas of mud, the course was relatively dry, which made for some quick times.
Kyle Robinson ran a great race running a 38 second personal record and breaking into the top ten to finish 8th overall. Robinson's eighth place finish placed him on the All-Conference Second Team. Inspired by his performance many other Bearcats had solid races including Devin Watts who ran a personal record of 35:43 and finished 116th, Adam Hayden (36:42, 118th), Devin Roche (36:59, 119th), Preston Glazebrook (37:44, 120th), and Jaleel Parris (39:44, 121st).
Robinson's performance at the meet additionally qualified him to run on November 16th at the NAIA National Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Click here for the full press release from the NAIA which includes a full list team and individual qualifiers.
"I could not be more proud of Kyle and the determination he had today. We sat down early on in the season and set goals. His goals were to run a solid PR, receive All-Conference recognition, and qualify for the NAIA National Championships. He achieved all three of those very lofty goals. Also, the efforts of the rest of the team can't be overlooked. Each one of them knew what had to be done and stepped up to ensure that happened," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel.
