Bearcats Co-host Fast Cats Classic
The Brescia University Men's Cross-Country teams Co-Hosted with Kentucky Wesleyan and Daviess County High in the Fast Cats Classic on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Yellow Creek Park.
The Men's team started off for the Bearcats at 9:30 a.m. CT. Team Captain Kyle Robinson (SR, Henderson, Ky) finished in 16th place out of 152 runners. Robinson said, "It was a little bit of a disappointing time for my last home meet as a senior, but the good news is that in 4 weeks we are back here for conference, so I get another chance on this course."
Devin Roche (SO, Auburn, Ky) was next across the line for the Bearcats. He made his season debut, running a 33:11. Preston Glazebrook (JR, Providence, Ky) finished third for Brescia with a 39:11.
Devin Watts (FR, Hopkinsville, Ky) was the fourth Bearcat across the line, racing to a 40:04. Adam Hayden (SR, Owensboro, Ky) finished the day for the Bearcats with a 41:44 8k. This was Watts and Hayden's first time running the 8k course.
When asked about the course in general while competing, Robinson said, "This was my 8th consecutive year racing on this course, between high school and college. It's a great course. We lucked out and didn't get any rain, which helped because the course gets extremely sloppy when it rains. A lot of the other athlete's said that it was really hot today, but I didn't really notice the heat during my race."
At the finish of the race Head Coach Luke Stoffel said, "Overall, I am pleased with the showing. Kyle Robinson only allowed one runner from the conference to finish in front of him. Devin Roche came out and ran a strong first race. The other three competed well and we had our first team score of the season, beating out Midway in the team placing."
The Bearcats will compete again Oct. 20th at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
