Holt, Aschenbrenner Qualify for NAIA National Championship
The Brescia men's track & field team will be sending two student-athletes to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship in Gulf Shores, Alabama on May 26th-28th.
Landon (SR/Dawson Springs, Ky.) qualified for nationals in the 400m hurdles on May 13th at the Hillsdale Last-Chance Classic, hitting a 'B' standard of 54.25 seconds. This time is also a collegiate PR and school record.
He currently ranks 22nd in the nation in the event.
His qualifing time followed several near-qualifying performances in the weeks leading up to the Hillsdale Last-Chance Classic. He finished within a second of the qualifying time (54.65 seconds) at the Campbellsville Tiger Paw Invite and the River States Conference Championship, running 55.61 seconds and 54.93 seconds.
This is his second time meeting an NAIA National Championship standard, hitting the national standard for the decathlon in 2019.
Mason (JR/Ottumwa, Iowa) first qualified for nationals in the 110m hurdles on March 20th at the Bearcat Classic, hitting a 'B' standard with a time of 14.83 seconds.
He improved his seeding on May 7th at the Pacesetter Sports Invitational, running an 'A' standard time of 14.64 seconds. He followed that performance up the next week at the Hillsdale Last-Chance Classic, setting a new collegiate PR and school record of 14.61 seconds.
He currently ranks 23rd in the nation in the event.
This is his second time meeting an NAIA National Championship standard. He ran a qualifying standard of 8.31 seconds in the 60m hurdles in the 2020 indoor track & field season, and also competed at the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship in 2019.
The Brescia track team will travel to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship on Monday, May 24th.
