Bearcats Open Season At John Craft Invitational
The Brescia men's track & field team opened up its indoor track season on January 18 at the EIU John Craft Invitational.
On the track, Landon Holt (SR, Dawson Springs, Ky.) opened the meet, running 7.24 seconds in the 60m dash prelims. Holt also competed in the 200m dash, running 23.41.
In the 400m, Devin Watts (SO, Hopkinsville, Ky.) completed the two-lap race in 58.02 seconds. In the 600m, Tyler Walz (FR, Hawesville, Ky.) ran the first mid-distance event of the day, completing the race in 1:40.10 -- a new PR. Walz also competed in the 800m, placing 17.
In the mile, Benjamin Brown (FR, Memphis, Mich.) narrowly missed breaking the five minute mark, completing the race in 5:00.49. To conclude the distance events of the meet, Wes Wheatley (FR, Hawesville, Ky.) and James Barrow (FR, Elizabethtown, Ky.) ran the 3,000m, finishing in 31 and 32 place, respectively.
In the 60m hurdles prelims, Jayden Wesley (SO, Pikeville, Ky.) ran 9.59 seconds, finishing in 14 place.
Bryce Ladd (FR, Benton, Ky.) set a new record in indoor pole vault, vaulting 3.35m and finishing in 9 place. Andrew Parker (SO, Louisville, Ky.), Zac Johnson (SR, Leitchfield, Ky.), and James Vanmeter (SO, Lebanon Junction, Ky.) each competed in shot put, throwing 10.96m, 10.30m, and 9.26m respectively.
The Bearcats will be back in action at the UI Tom Hathaway Challenge on January 25-26.
