Bearcats Open Season at Rose-Hulman
The Brescia University men's track & field team opened up the 2022 indoor track & field season on Friday, January 21st at Rose-Hulman, placing 3rd at the quad meet.

Distance:
James Barrow (JR/Elizabethtown, KY) and Draven Stewart (SO/Leitchfield, KY) competed in the mile, placing 18th and 19th and running 5:44.21 and 5:58.28, respectively.
Wes Wheatley (JR/Hawesville, KY) ran the 3,000m, placing 11th with a time of 11:48.19.
Jumps:
Ethan Pierce (SO/Leitchfield, KY) won pole vault with a vault of 3.85m, also setting a new indoor pole vault school record. Pierce took down Bryce Ladd's previous record of 3.72 from the 2020 season.
Reese Haight (SO/Utica, KY) also competed in pole vault, placing fourth with a vault of 2.50m.
In long jump, Nick Mighell (FR/Benton, KY) led the Bearcats with a jump of 5.98m, good for fourth overall. Benjamin Brown (JR/Memphis, MI), Ethan Pierce, and Joseph Tapia (JR/Owensboro, KY) also competed in long jump, placing seventh, eighth, and ninth.
Mighell was the only Bearcat who competed in triple jump, moving up to second all-time for Brescia in the event with a jump of 11.87m.
Sprints:
Colby Aschenbrenner (SO/Ottumwa, IA) and Nick Mighell kicked off the sprints events for the Bearcats in the 60m prelims, running 7.48 seconds and 7.70 seconds.
In the 60m hurdles, Mason Aschenbrenner (SR/Ottumwa, IA) narrowly missed an NAIA Track & Field National Championship qualifying standard, finishing first with a time of 8.40 seconds. The qualifying standard is 8.38 seconds.
In the 200m dash, Mason Aschenbrenner led the way with a fourth place finish and time of 23.94 seconds. Colby Aschenbrenner, Joseph Tapia, and Reese Haight also competed in the event, placing seventh, ninth, and tenth.
Benjamin Brown competed in the 400m dash, placing tenth with a time of 58.12 seconds.
The 4x200m relay team of Benjamin Brown, Joseph Tapia, Nick Mighell, and Colby Aschenbrenner placed second with an overall time of 1:44.08.
Throws:
Andrew Parker (SR/Louisville, KY) led the Bearcats in shot put, placing third with a throw of 12.15m. Parker also competed in weight throw, placing second with a throw of 14.00m.
The freshmen duo of Adam Gregory and Jessee Wood competed in both shot put and weight throw. In shot put, they placed 11th and 12th. In weight throw, Wood placed 12th and Gregory placed 13th.
