Men's Track & Field Compete at DePauw University
The Men's Track & Field team headed to DePauw University to participate in the Tiger Small College Indoor Invitational. The men place 6th out of 8 teams, finishing with 23 points. Highlights of the night were Zac Johnson breaking his indoor shot put record, Colton Metcalf breaking his triple jump record, and Landon Holt running the second fastest 200m in school history.
In the 60m dash Jaleel Parris finished 10th in a time of 7.6 seconds. In the 200m Landon Holt finished 9th in 23.85 seconds. For the second week in a row Landon just missed his school record set last season. Jaleel Parris finished 13th coming in at 24.72 seconds. Brent Crawford crossed the line in a new PR of 25.29 seconds finishing 19 overall, he was followed by freshman Colton Metcalf running 26.4 seconds and finishing 25th.
In the 400 Meter Run Devin Watts (57.4 seconds) narrowly edged out Cameron Davis (57.47 seconds). The two finished fifth and sixth overall.
Devin Roche coming back after missing the Engineer Invite the week before, due to a minor injury, finished his 800 meter run in 2:12. Devin placed 16th overall.
Distance runners Kyle Robinson and Chase McCauley ran the 3k. Kyle finished the 3k with a new PR of 9:38.5, finishing in 15th place. Chase finished 23rd and crossed the line in 10:25.67.
Chase McCauley, Landon Holt, Devin Roche, and Kyle Robinson made up the DMR. This was the first Bearcat DMR ran since 2016. The team finished 4th completing the relay in 11.38.3.
Landon Holt and Jaleel Parris tied in the long jump. Both jumped a distance of 5.67m. Cameron Davis scratch on all of his attempts.
Colton Metcalf extended his school record in the triple jump with a distance of 11.48m.
Zac Johnson improved his Indoor shot put PR and school record to 9.72m. He was followed by Lucas Petit with a distance of 6.1m.
"Overall today was a good meet. We have been dealing with a couple injuries on both sides, but the overall performance of the team is right where we need to be. I am excited to see where we stack up with the conference in the RSC Indoor Championship next weekend," said Head Coach Luke Stoffel.
The Bearcats are back in action February 9th, as they compete in the first ever RSC Indoor Championship. The meet will be held at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio. The first events will begin at 2:00pm CST. Click here for time schedule and order of events.
