Men's Tennis Earns First Win of the Season
The Brescia men's tennis team earned their first win of the season against Kentucky Wesleyan College.
The Brescia men's tennis team earned their first win of the season against Kentucky Wesleyan College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bearcats were back to full strength, playing all eight of the nine matches.
Brescia started out strong in doubles play and grabbed wins on all three courts. The Bearcats wasted no time building chemistry on the doubles courts. Junior Danila Pyzh and junior Daniel Paez won 6-1 at first doubles, freshmen Joao Pontes and Sophomore Juan Tavera won 6-3 at second doubles, and freshman Parker Johnston and sophomore Juan Hernandez won by default at third doubles.
Pyzh kept the momentum going by winning at first singles in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Paez won his second singles match 6-2, 6-2. Pontes won 6-0, 6-3 at third singles and Tavera won 6-1, 6-2 at fourth singles. Johnston won his match 8-4 at fifth singles for his first win of the season. Hernandez won by default at sixth singles.
The Bearcats are 1-4 on the season with a week before the next match at home against Indiana University- East.
