Bearcats Compete at the RSC Individual Tournament
The Brescia men's tennis team opened its season in the River States Conference (RSC) Individual Tournament on September 6 and 7, competing at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
The RSC Individual Tournament was a bracket style format where the top seed from each team plays each other. Each player on the team played her seed from a different team.
In the purple draw, Danila Pyzh (SO, Minsk, Belarus), who was awarded RSC Newcomer of the Year last season, advanced to the third place match, falling to Indiana University - East (7-6, 6-3).
In the crimson draw, Daniel Paez Fernandez (SO, Bogota, Colombia) made it to the third place match, losing to Indiana University - East (6-0, 6-4).
Emerson Durbin (SO, Hawesville, Ky.) made it to the quarterfinals, before falling to Indina University - Southeast (6-0, 6-0) in the white draw.
In the gray draw, Christian Fernandez (FR, Alvin, Texas) competed in the quarterfinals, falling to Indiana University - East (6-0, 6-2).
In the final individual bracket, Daniel Stueland (SO, Geneva, Ill.) advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to Asbury (6-0,6-0). His teammate, Jacob Dipert (FR, Martinsville, Ind.) also competed in the black draw, losing to Indiana University - Southeast (6-3, 6-3) in the quarterfinals.
In the doubles bracket, Pyzh/Paez competed in the third place match, losing to Indiana University - East (6-2).
Next, the duo of Durbin/Stueland advanced to the quarterfinals, while their teammates Fernandez/Dipert advanced to the quarterfinals on the opposite side of the bracket.
The Bearcats will be back in action on the road on September 22 against Oakland City University at 2:00 p.m.
