Bearcats Compete in ITA Southeast Regionals
Brescia's Men's and Women's Tennis teams took part in the annual ITA Southeast Regionals at Georgetown College over the weekend to compete against some of the best players in the country.
On the men's side, Kevin Larrea was defeated by Jackson Plyler 6-0 6-0 in the first round. After a bye, Tyler Steelman was beaten by Edwyn Ramos 6-0 6-0 in the second round. Fernando Diaz, who also got a bye in the first round, lost to Edberg Espinoza, the number 3 seed in the tournament, 6-2, 6-1. In doubles, Diaz and Larrea were given a first-round bye, then they were defeated by Nosek/Takeda from Georgetown College 8-3 in the second round.
On the women's side, Morgan Harmon was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Toni Pfeiffer in the second round after receiving a first round bye. Naruemon Wiriyachon also received a first round bye, but was eliminated in the second round 6-2, 6-3 by Minla Martin. Divinity Price was defeated in the first round in a tough match, the final score being 3-6, 6-2, 1-0. In doubles, Wiriyachon and Price were given a first-round bye, but then went on to lose 8-1 to Curty/Blanco in the second round.
