Bearcats Fall In Rhodes College Invite
The Brescia University Mens Golf Team finishes 7th in the Rhodes College Spring Invitational held at Mirimichi Golf Club in Memphis TN. Being the only NAIA school playing in the 13 team field, the Bearcats were 3rd after round one of three on the demanding Mirimichi layout then slipped to 7th with some poor short game and balky putting.
Senior Parker Brown lead the Bearcats with a 13th place finish overall with scores of 74/75/78. Coach Cox is quoted, "Parker hit the ball excellent all three rounds, the greens got him frustrated as he played more. He will figure out for next week for certain". Ryan Howard had scores of 74/78/80 as driving the ball was an issue for sure. Weston Wood played much better than the 74/83/78 would suggest, as he gets more experience the confidence should follow. Dakota Jones despite a cold putter early shot 77/83/85. He has made some real strides in improving his game off the tee, now time to hone in and make a few slight adjustments moving forward. Trae Barber rounded out the fivesome with scores of 84/79/83 which most can be related to short game and experience. Similar to Wood, as he gains more playing time, the scores will improve for certain.
Not much rest for the Bearcats as they travel this Sunday to have a practice round at Belterra to prepare for the Conference Championships next Monday and Tuesday. Coach Cox says " As of today we do not know who will be in the top five, we have a lot to figure out in a very short time".
