Men's Golf Battles At KWC Invite
This weekend the Brescia University Men's Golf Team were at odds with their own home course as they competed in the KWC Spring Invitational fighting wind, rock hard, and speedy greens finishing 11th out of 12 teams.
The Men took two squads and battled as best they could to an 11th place finish, finishing at the back end of the field on this one. The first team was lead by junior Ryan Howard who finished 30th overall in the 66 player field with scores of 85/76 with a nice bounceback after day one. Freshman Weston Wood was three shots off the lead after day one with a 76, however stumbled to a 87 in round two for a 34th place finish overall. Rounding out team one Parker Brown 84/86, Daniel Thomas 59th with a 87/91 and Jordan Baer with 88/92 finishing 61stoverall. Leading team two was freshman Trae Barber with a 45th place finish 78/90, Bryson Bonds 53rd 88/86, Aidan Cassidy 58th 89/87, Dakota Jones 60th 88/91 and Matthew Godsey 63rd with 93/92.
Coach Jason Cox is quoted " We were not ourselves out there the past two days, we are a better team than what we showed especially at home." "The course played much different than these guys have seen, they simply could not adapt to the course conditions and set up. For us to play better the next two events we must change our mindset and adjust our approach to the management of the course for us to be successful. " " We are too good to shoot these kinds of number, we have to get tough, focused and simply think better around the course.
The Men's Team has a quick turnaround as they play in Memphis in 1 week's time.
