Parker Brown takes 1st place at Griffin Gate
In the first outing for the Brescia University Men's Golf Team Sr. Parker Brown torches the course at Griffin Gate in Lexington KY for his first individual championship. Parker's 67 led the Bearcats to a 3rd place finish as a team, however Parker sets a personal best with his 67 for a 5 shot victory individually." Parker played really well despite never seeing the Griffin Gate layout, his game was working on all cylinders for certain" says coach Jason Cox. Cox goes on to say "Parker knows and understands as a senior he is looked at to show the example to the others as we get the season going, his example today was stunning to say the least". "It was also great for the team along with Parker to get a close look at some other talent in the Conference as Midway, Asbury and WVT were also there".
The Bearcats took a Blue and Gold Team as they try to sift through the talented young class of 6 freshman that all played yesterday as well. Cox says" The freshman played like freshman, some great shots, and some not so great. However they will learn from this and get better immediately from it".
Blue Team scores: (314)
Parker Brown 67
Ryan Howard 82
Trae Barber 79
Weston Wood 86
Gold Team scores:(334)
Aidan Cassidy 82

Parker also will be forever linked to his older brother Trevor (19 graduate and BU Golfer) as they make an interesting piece of history in BU Golf. They become the only brothers to have both won an individual championship while here at BU. Parker, along with the rest of the team look to recover quickly as they travel this Sunday to compete in the Conference Preview Championship at Belterra Golf Club in Florence IN.
