TERRE HAUTE, In. – The Brescia University men's basketball team fell on the road to St. Mary of the Woods this past Thursday night, 73-65. The Bearcats extend their overall record to 3-15 and 3-6 in River States Conference play.
After defeating the Pomeroys at home earlier in the season, the Bearcats looked to sweep St. Mary of the Woods on the road. Carreiun Mathis made the first three pointers for BU as the Bearcats took a 10-8 lead. Three back-to-back turnovers led to a four-point swing in favor of the Pomeroys. BU struggled from the field as SMWC took advantage, building a 15-point deficit by the break.
The Pomeroys built up a 23-point lead out of the half until free throws by Israel Momodu opened a scoring streak. A 9-2 run by BU started to chip away at the lead hoisted by SMWC. Newcomer, Bowdin Radulovich, made an immediate impact off the bench with two consecutive threes. Alex Evans' made three cut the lead to 11 with five minutes left to play. Despite getting within four of the Pomeroy's advantage, the Bearcats struggled to handle pressure as they dropped the matchup, 73-65.
