Baseball Goes 1-1 in Season Opener
MARIETTA, GA – The Bearcats start the season off on the right foot as they split the first two games against the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles. Bryce Gamble’s two homerun day highlights the offense for the Bearcats as they look ahead to day two against the Eagles. Game one ended with a win off a two-run bomb coming from Bryce Gamble in the 7th to take a 3-2 victory. Game two ended in a 6-5 loss at the hands of the Screaming Eagles as the Bearcats fall just a run short.

Game 1 Brescia University 3, Toccoa Falls College 2
The screaming eagles would come out striking the first blow as they score two in the second inning. Pitching on both sides was a chess game between both pitchers. Pitcher Preston Franey had a strong four innings with two strikeouts and three hits. Coming from the pen and earning the win, pitcher Tommy Clark, ended with a solid threw innings while striking out two in a shutout. In the top of the seventh, Cole Troutman got the barrel party started as he led off the inning with a single. Demarco Miller came up huge with a single ground ball moving Troutman to third, after a failed pickoff attempt advanced Troutman to second earlier in the at-bat. Gavin Huebner would drive in Troutman on a hard groundout to the shortstop. Bryce Gamble would blast a two-run bomb to left field to give the Bearcats the go-ahead lead. Big games out of outfielder Demarco Miller as he went 2 for 3 with a triple and catcher Bryce Gamble would go 2 for 4 with a homerun and double.
Game 2 Brescia University 5, Toccoa Falls 6
Brescia came out firing to an early 4-0 lead to start game two. Gavin Huebner starts the scoring with a costly passed ball by the Eagles' pitcher to break the tie and get the Bearcats to a 1-0 advantage. It wouldn't be until the fifth inning when the Bearcats would tack on three more runs with a homerun by Demarco Miller and Bryce Gamble for Gamble's second long ball of the day. Kendal Kortz would also contribute as a single throught the infield would score Gavin Reames. The Screaming Eagles would rally back and tie the game up in the bottom of the fifth with a base clearing triple. In the bottom of the sixth, the Eagles would add the game leading runs to pull away from the Bearcats. Demarco Miller would go 2 for 3 with a homerun in the leadoff spot as Gavin Huebner would go 2 for 3. Kendal Kortz would go 2 for 4 in the loss to round out the Bearcat offense.
The Bearcats will play to take the series from Toccoa Falls on Saturday January 27th with first pitch being at 11 am CT.
